The Fifth Annual Young General Assembly Session.
Saturday, July 31, (arrival day) through Sunday August 8th, (departure day) 2004
Hosted by General Action Against the Violation of Human and Children's Rights in Abuja, Nigeria
This exciting meeting offers participants a balance of productive time in working committees and time to relax and enjoy new friendships with like-minded young people from all over the world. It is set in the heart of western Africa, Abuja Nigeria. The event aims to:
1. To build an avenue for Children and Young People to come together to share ideas, information and experience.
2. Bring an opportunity for the Young Participant to Gain New Skills, Build Networks and Develop new projects.
3. Build capacity of the Young Participants and give them the knowledge, skills and resources to participate in the Development Process through workshops, training session and skills session that would be held at the event.
4. Focus on issues like Child Labour and Trafficking, Adolescent Reproductive Health, Child Participation, Environment and Sustainable Development, Globalisation among other issues.
5. Build an International Network of Children and Young People’s groups for Change.
Delegations to Abuja will consist of no more than 2 people under the age of 18 and one person over 18 per organization.
Young General Assembly Member Organisations will be approved first. If there is room, then other organisations may send delegates. It's easy to join. Young GA Member Organisations pay no dues. Participants are responsible for their own transportation costs to the international airport in Abuja. Transportation will be provided to and from the conference venue at no cost.
The conference fee is for the 8night meeting (Fee waivers is available on the basis of needs or request). The meeting is being hosted by General Action Against the Violation of Human and Children's Rights (GAAVOCHR) under the leadership of its young founder, Temidayo, Israel-Abdulai and supported by Save the Children U.K-Nigeria and other partners.
